Ms. Angelica Jones Alarva: From sexy comedienne to honorable public servant

Ms. Angelica Jones Alarva made a name in showbiz as a sexy comedienne. But after a while, her life changed course as she forayed into politics, becoming Board Member for the 3rd District of Laguna for three consecutive terms.

She knew she wasn’t equipped mentally for a political life so Angelica enrolled at UP for a crash course on Strategic Management. This helped a lot, she said. And as she went along, she also learned a lot more from her on-the-job training.

“Marami talaga ako natutunan. I used to be kikay and funny but after a while, to keep up with the ‘honorable’ title affixed to my name, I had to act, speak and dress up honorably! Yung dating imahe ko, kailangan mawala na.”

Since her third term expired a few years ago, her fans expected her to go hack to show business. But Angelica disappointed them as she remained rooted in public service in her new capacity as Spokesperson for Kabayan Partylist and as Personal Consultant for Senator Manny Pacquiao.

So she is even busier now than before with her various commitments to civic work and public service. “I’m mostly in the field, supervising Medical Missions and the like.” However, she is open to make a comeback to showbiz; in fact she is looking forward to a teleserye that has been offered to her. She can find time for it, she said, She could also do a movie or accept endorsement projects, “Miss Flawless” added.

It was at the Office of Senator Manny Pacquiao that she met Reynante Lascona, President of NEXTGENeration Company which for the last three years has been a staunch advocate of Organic Farming.

He offered to make her their company’s endorser because he knew Angelica shares their passion for organic farming. “Who am I to refuse such an offer? This is a great honor for,” Angelica said. “Maganda ang advocacy nila, magkatugma sa aking adbokasya, Their Mission is to help Mother Earth, and help farmers through organic farming and eventually help the youth as they will inherit the land in the future…”

Angelica concluded: “Mahilig ako sa tree-planting; my heart is with the farmers so I’m super happy to be the endorser of NEXTGENeration Company.”
