Perkins Twins: Role models for the youth

Perkins Twins: Role models for the youth

The Perkins twins, singers-actors Jesse and Christian, started making their names known locally about three years ago when they moved back from California where they grew up. They were born in the Philippines but their family migrated to the US when they were still very young,

And now they’re back, as permanent residents - to give back to the country they love. Since 2015, they’ve been travelling around the country, working with the Department of Education (DepEd). They have performed in over 500 schools, singing to impart this message to the youth - NO DRUGS, NO ALCOHOL, and NO BULLYING!”

Jesse and Christian performed weekly in over 45 malls and worked with various government agencies. They introduced their upbeat but wholesome image to town festivals and fiestas - bringing family values back to festivals rather than ending in drunken or drug-fueled nights of debauchery in the community.

In their first starring movie, “Kaibigan,” directed by Cesar Montano and starring Hollywood actor Stephen Baldwin (“The Usual Suspects”), the twins’ own compositions and choreography are featured. A soundtrack for the movie, made in collaboration with Vehnee Saturno, was scheduled for release last July. A nationwide “never-done-before” promotional tour with the support of Hapee Toothpaste and Adventure Kings was also scheduled to start this September.

Produced by their own family production company, Perkins Productions in collaboration with Cup of Faith Coffee, “Kaibigan” is the story of a troubled Filipino high school student who surrounds himself with friends of bad character, creating problems for a popular Filipino student until they both discover the true meaning of friendship.

“Kaibigan” also stars Boots Anson Roa,
Cesar Montano, Tirso Cruz 111, Alvin Anson, Lani Mercado, Emmanuelle Vera, Archie Adamos, Mariam Al Alawi, Victor Basa, Mocha Union and Judah Paolo. Co-director is Daniel Tan.

Perkins Productions is a family-friendly development and production house focused on faith and family, advocacy-based projects for film production, television and positive influence gaming projects.

‘Goyo’ shot in scenic Bagac, Bataan

Among other plus factors, “Goyo: The Boy General” entrails viewers with its spectacular sceneries. Even the mountain tops where the fighting between the Filipino revolutionaries and American forces took place could take one’s breath away.

Our good friend, Erwin Manalo Dona told us “Goyo” was filmed in Bagac, Bataan where Las Casas Filipinas De Acuzar Heritage & Convention Center is located. This is where Erwin works. He recently invited the media for a special screening at Victoria Sports along EDSA (near GMA Network).

“Goyo,” starring Paulo Avelino playing the title role of General Gregorio del Pilar, has been getting rave reviews, and indeed it is a movie to watch by every Filipino, not only historical buffs. Catch it in select local cinemas while it is still showing.

Avelino fits the role as the young revolutionary general who is very romantic at heart and with intense love for country. Too bad he met a tragic death early in his life.

Among others, “Goyo” also stars Epy Quizon as Apolinario Mabini, the Great Paralytic, Alvin Anson and Mon Confiado as President Emilio Aguinaldo.

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is a new New San Jose Builders, Inc. project and is managed by Asian Grand Legacy Hotels Corp.
