Bryan Revilla back on the big screen

The few times I saw Bryan Revilla was whenever we visited his father, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla on special occasions (like his birth anniversary every Sept. 25) in his holding cell at PNP at Camp Crame. Every time Bryan was there,  particularly on Sunday afternoons, was an occasion for him to speak about spiritualism, about the word of God, and so I thought he was seriously going to be a pastor, and was never going back to acting.

Never mind if his family – from his grandfather, former action star, producer and senator Ramon Revilla, Sr., to his father, Bong Revilla, his mother Lani Mercado, now Bacoor City Mayor, and siblings – are all in the business of acting, and especially since he studied and finished college in London.

I was wrong. Because, as it has always been said  in show business, once an actor, always an actor. And  Bryan has proven this as returns to the big screen as lead actor after more than a decade.  He plays the lead character in the trilogy film “Tres” which is the Revilla family’s movie company, Imus Productions’ comeback offering.

At the recent press conference for “Tres” , Bryan revealed “siguro nga mahirap kalimutan at tuluyang iwanan ang isang hanapbuhay na kinagisnan mo at alam mong mahal ng itong pamilya.”

And what thrills Bryan more is that in “Tres,” an action-packed trilogy, he shares star-billing with his brothers Vice Governor Jolo Revilla and Luigi Revilla.

Bryan also related: “It was our Dad who conceptualized this project, na nagserve as comeback film din ng aming family-owned film production, Imus Productions. Obvious na plinano ng Dad namin na gawin itong trilogy, consisting of three episodes where each of us will have his own individual episode.”

He added: “At bawat episode at one complete movie in itself. Na may sariling title, may sariling cast at Director, Mine, for example is entitled ‘Virgo’ with  Richards Somes as director, my co-stars are Carla Humphries and Joey Marquez among others.”

Jolo topbills the episode “27 Hours” where he has for leading lady Rhian Ramos. Luigi’s episode, “Amats” had for his co-stars Assunta de Rossi and Myrtle Sarrogza. Both episodes are directed by Dondon Santos.

Asked if Bryan is back in showbiz for good, he answered: “Tignan natin after ‘Tres.’”

Bryan’s last film was the action-adventure-drama  “Resiklo,” topbilled by his father and which was an entry to the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival.

After 2007, Bryan kept himself busy helping his mom Lani in her duties, previously as Bacoor City Solon and currently as City Mayor,

“Tres,” to be released by Cine Screen, opens on Oct. 3 in cinemas nationwide.
